對於台灣人而言，過了除夕，才算是新的一年，在這個新年初始，我們來看看每年年底都會公布「Best of the Year」的 ⟪Footwear News⟫，2019 年到底哪雙鞋、哪個品牌、哪位設計師是 The Best。從得獎名單我們看到了不同種族之間的融合，時尚潮流是無國界的。
猶記得 2018 年的 Shoe of the Year 是 FILA Disruptor 2 （傳送門 → ⟪Footwear News⟫ 2018 年年度最佳球鞋 得獎的是 Fila Disruptor 2），來到 2019 年，不能說是意外，但算是驚喜，Shoe of the Year 2019 頒給了 Dr. Martens 1460。得獎理由，⟪Footwear News⟫ 表示，Dr. Martens 1460 打破了一雙鞋只能紅一陣子的常態，橫跨了不同世代，2020 年 4 月將滿 60 週年的Dr. Marten，1960、70 年代受到Punk族喜愛，至今在每個世代的trendmakers，例如 Kendall Jenner、Gigi Hadid、Hailey Baldwin，腳上都有一雙 Dr. Martens。

歷年 Shoe of the Year
⟪Footwear News⟫ 將年度人物 Person of the Year 頒給了奪下 2018 年 CFDA 時尚基金大獎，剛與 Reebok 推出聯名，Pyer Moss 的主理人 Kerby Jean-Raymond。Pyer Moss 開始受到更多人關注是一場 2016 年紐約時裝週的大秀，他以一部描述黑幫與警方暴行的紀錄片為自己首場時裝週打開序幕。「 I want to show that black can be beautiful and not just sensationalised. Not always tragic, not always 『for your entertainment』。 It can exist on the sole purpose of us being us, and that's what these kids represent。」非常有力的一段話，就是因為 Kerby Jean-Raymond 的政治態度很鮮明，讓 Pyer Moss 徹底打入了年輕人的圈子。
另外，其他榜單有趣的包括，Designer of the Year 是義大利女鞋設計師 Amina Muaddi，她主理的 Oscar Tiye，筆直尖細的鞋跟，還有綁著蝴蝶結的後跟，被稱為長翅膀的高跟鞋，⟪Footwear News⟫ 如此評價：「Amina Muaddi 持續激發中東女性實現自己的夢想。」
Collaborator of the Year 我們同樣注意到的 1990 年代的回歸，那的確是潮流的精彩年代，得獎者就是Tommy Hilfiger。Tommy Hilfiger 不只延續 1990 年代的輪廓，但並不手就，找來了許多年輕人，例如 Zendaya、Lewis Hamilton 等合作。另外，Brand of the Year 則是 PUMA 與 Rothy's，PUMA 得力於 Cara Delevingne與Selena Gomez，在女性運動圈佔有難以取代的位置。
